coldsores....covering them up??
Jul 22nd, 2008 at 5:20am

Hey

what's the best way you guys try and hide or (make it reasonably seem better anyway) your coldsore when you get them?

Was wondering if there's any stuff out there that's actually made to hide it?

Thanks!

Oh yuk, how I HATE those things....there's no really good way to hide the horrors, but using a patch does help. Compeed ones are quite good.

Oh why did I even think about cold sores - as soon as they pop into my mind, they pop out on my lip.....Naturally, one grew over night.
To be honest, when I have tried to cover them up, it looks worse.

Well, I never do anything with coldsores when I get them..and they're horrible, but I've seen other girls who have put something on them and their's don't seem that bad at all.  hhhmmmmmm   Undecided

/\ It's not too bad. If you can catch them when the tingling starts with zovirax or something, they do not develop. Damn things.

Goodness im prone to the rascals, it makes me so angry. I think im cooking one up on my bottom lip as we speak.

Tea tree oil seems to help to heal them, i find the coldsore creams are pretty frigging useless and that they make them go all blistery quicker. But thats just because coldsores make me so angry.

As for hiding them... depends where it is really. If its planted the outside edges of your lip you can use foundation and lipliner to disguise it. Just make sure to use disposable brushes or apply with a cotton bud.. you dont want to infect your makeup stuff or make the coldsore worse/spread it. Just apply foundation to the edge of your lips, this will cover the part of the coldsore on your skin, whereas the lipliner will help to give the appearance of smooth edged lips. try using vaseline or something similar to keep it moist, when coldsores go crusty they are verrry noticable and any makeup you use to hide it will just cake and crack.

Ive never tried the patches although i think i just might.
You just have to remember you wont be able to fully hide it, just help it not to look so angry and obvious.

I've never gotten cold sores, and I hope I never do, but I guess there are a few simple tips. Of course, medicate the area so that it heals faster. If it's past its disaster phase and beginning to heal, it might be dry and/or flaky. So moisturize is and then dab on some concealer. Other than that, just wait till it heals!
