Cheap Essential Oils?
Jul 10th, 2006 at 12:56pm

Does anyone know a good website that sells reasonable quantities of essential oils at a good price? I am specifically looking for sandalwood.

the cheaper the essential oil, the less quality it has. Alot of your essential oils are "fake", or chemically created fragrant oils that have no theraputic qualities whatsoever. For example, there are many different types of Lavender that can be made into an essential oil. But its the particular species called Lavendula angustofolia that has the most potent, and CORRECT therapeutic properties for relaxtions, to help sleeping, headaches, is antibacterial, helps with burns etc etc.

If you're looking for a company that sells good quality, 100% pure essential oils, go to this website:

I dont think you can order the products online but you can probably contact them and they will send you and order form and they will send it to you wherver you are in the world. I used to work for the company so I can deinfately vouch for the oils they use, as I have all forty of them.

If you have any queries, please just ask me and I'll do the best I can to help you with any essential oil information you might need.

Buy pure unadulterated EO's.  And its best if you can test them in person before you buy.  Many herbal and healthfood stores carry them and have testers.

How to test:

Do an easy blotting paper test to see if your oils are pure. Put a few sample drops of your oils on a blotting paper. Pure essential oils will not leave any residue once they have evaporated, whereas petroleum solvents will.

It is like Sassi said, if the oils are cheap then they aren't any good.  Also keep in mind that Rose and other EO's are very difficult to extract so they are very very expensive.  1/2 oz of Rose EO runs about $250 to $300 so never buy any rose EO that is reasonably priced.

Mountain Rose Herbs have high quality reasonably priced EO's.  I've purchased EO's from them myself and they are very good.

The price of EOs might also depend on your location. I have heard that tea tree oil is not that expensive in Australia, because the tea tree plant itself is found there. Whereas the same EO is ridiculously expensive in India...actually most EOs are expensive in India Sad Sad. I can't afford them, so I make do without them.

Anmol, which EO are you talking about. Lavendar, Lemon grass, Rosemary, Ylang Ylang, Sage, Sandalwood are pretty cheap. Most of them are around 35 Rs for 10 ml. I think that price is ok considering that we should be using only a couple of drops because of its concentration.

I buy Shunyata, Dr Jain..

Oh I get it.. You may be talking about Aromamagic. Aromamagic market's their brand as a combination of EOs for a specific purpose like instance for Hair loss, their product is a combination of Cedarwood, Rosemary, and 2 other EO's that i don't remember now. Anyway Aromamagic's products are definitely expensive. The one I saw for hairloss was 150 rs. Dr. Jain is available in many medical stores here. Its quite common in Maharashtra. May be available in Chennai too. Try some medical stores.

Here are a few websites that sell great essential oils. They offer top notch essential oils around $5-$20 depending on the type and size of the bottle. I love the peppermint, lavender, lemon, orange, and eucalytus.

I sell the Young Living essential oils simply because I believe in them. I've used much less expensive oils and been unhappy with the outcome or the true ingredients or the amounts I've had to use. I've been doing Massage & Aromatherapy for well over 20 years and will never use anything but this brand. They are the purest oils made-and you will definately pay for it, but you  use ALOT less and the benefits outweigh the cost. Especially if this is something you are serious about getting into.

It's the only brand of essential oils I use in all of my products.

If they're good quality, real, undiluted essential oils, they won't cost any less then about $9 for a normal sized bottle
